Ducks Unlimited is the foremost waterfowl conservation organization in North America. Through habitat creation, scientific research, and government partnerships, Ducks Unlimited positively impacts wetlands wildlife, helping ecosystems thrive and creating access for people to enjoy the outdoors.

For over 10 years, YETI has been a proud partner of Ducks Unlimited. Here’s a snapshot of their work:

PROJECT IMPACT

GULF COAST INITIATIVE

The Gulf Coast is considered the most critical wintering waterfowl habitat in North America. Our rapidly changing environment and the complexities of how humans interface with it threaten the ability of this wetlands system to support migratory birds, fisheries, and other wildlife.

Funding for DU supports their research and evaluation efforts, the foundation upon which their direct conservation programs and policy and outreach work are based. DU also gives the Gulf Coast a voice in Washington, as such large-scale problems often require large-scale solutions that can be achieved only through public policy.

AMERICA’S RIVER INITIATIVE

The Mississippi River was once a 25-million-acre floodplain forest; the lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley (MAV) was an extraordinary wetland system with abundant and diverse wildlife. But after years of drainage and clearing, only about 20 percent of the original forests remain, and the floodplain has been significantly altered.

DU’s America's River Initiative specifically targets areas where public and private lands provide crucial migration and wintering habitat for millions of birds traveling the Mississippi Flyway. Conservation work under the America's River Initiative will focus on

  • Restore or protect key public lands in cooperation with state and federal partners.
  • Permanently protect private lands through DU's donated conservation easement program.
  • Assist landowners to restore or enhance private land through partners' programs.
