Elevate your campfire cooking by stacking your Dutch ovens. Backcountry outfitter Graham Goodfield takes us from biscuits and beans to a pineapple upside down cake in this how-to that’ll make you hungry.

1 - Start with hot coals — you want briquettes that coal up well and don’t burn too quickly.

2 - Make a healthy bed of coals on the bottom.

3 - Place the biggest dutch oven on the bottom. In this case, the main course of ribs, potatoes, and vegetables.

4 - Place a ring of hot white coals on the lid to get a nice even heat.

5 - Stack another dutch oven, repeat the layering of hot white coals.

6 - Continue stacking your ovens with coals between each layer.

7 - In this case, after 30 mins, everything should be done.

8 - In the meantime, you can pan fry any remaining items using the coals on the top of the stack.

9 - When all’s finished, dump the coals back in the fire.

10 - Ring the triangle and call the crew in to eat.
