Few people know the waters of Michigan as well as Mike Schultz does. Known by Schultzy to most, he’s been a pioneer in the landscape, logging countless hours guiding and crafting modern fly techniques for river smallmouth. He played an integral part in the founding of Huron River Single Fly and Huckin’ for the Huron, two fundraisers aimed to support the preservation of the Huron River, known for its world-class smallmouth fishery. While his guiding pursuits have taken him from Patagonia to Russia and other incredible places in between, he’s happiest at his home on the banks of the Huron River with his wife Allie and two sons.
