Hopper® M12 and M20 FAQ

No. However, the internal corners are rounded for easy cleaning.

No, but Hopper® Soft Coolers have been durability tested, and the shoulder straps will
comfortably carry loaded contents

For best thermal performance we recommend a 2:1 ice-to-content ratio.

No. Fabrics & construction are the same as Hopper® M20 Soft Backpack Cooler, just new smaller sizes.

Yes. The same insulation that keeps the cooler cold also keeps the heat.

Your YETI product has a small sticker with a 12-digit serial number and QR code. It’s out of plain sight, but easy to find. This will be different from the product UPC code that starts in either
"8888" or "100". See Product Registration FAQ.

There will be a shoulder strap available.

No.

No. We updated the foam in all of our Soft Coolers to remove the “ammonia” odor caused by heat and can be common in enclosed spaces.

We voluntarily recalled these products since the magnet-lined closures on M20 and M30 can fail and release the magnets, which poses a risk of serious injury or death if ingested.

Please submit a claim to receive your choice of either a suggested replacement product or a full refund in the form of a YETI gift card. Upon submission we will provide you with a prepaid shipping label and packaging material for you to return your product. For more information, see our Product Recall FAQ.

A full list of replacement options are listed here.

We have fully encapsulated the magnets within the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) strip, so the only visual difference is inside the bag on the backside of the TPU strip. And of course, they have the same legendary ColdCell™ Insulation with closed-cell foam technology to lock the cold in.

TPU is thermoplastic polyurethane and it does not contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

No, the new TPU strip has no effect on ice retention.

The newly designed Hopper® Soft Coolers with MagShield closure have fully encapsulated the magnets within the strip of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to mitigate any risk of magnets falling out. The recalled version of the product has the magnets exposed and visible if you look behind the flap.

If you purchased your Hopper® M30 (or M20) Soft Cooler from YETI.com after October 2023, your cooler was not part of the recall and if purchased from an authorized YETI dealer after October 2023, it is likely not part of the recall. Nope. So don't drop it in the deep sea.

Yes, the M12 and M20 backpack coolers should easily fit into the overhead compartment of most planes but call your airline ahead of time to confirm.

The Hopper® M12 shares all the great features and benefits of the M20, but also has a Kangaroo Pocket to keep your phone, keys, and other valuables at hand. It is also a little bit smaller for less capacity needs in case you might be going solo.

We have revised the enclosure construction for the same magnets sealed inside. We have fully encapsulated the magnets within the strip of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) to mitigate any risk of magnets falling out.

Nope, they’re fully encapsulated to mitigate any risk of magnets falling out.

Yes. These magnets were put through a wide range of tests to ensure YETI® durability standards.

The Hopper® Soft Coolers with MagShield closure are available for purchase in the following regions: US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, and Europe.

The M12 will be available in Navy and Charcoal at launch. But as usual, there are more colors to come.

Yes. We recommend using YETI Thin ICE™ to keep your food cold, safe, and dry.

WARNING: Hopper® Soft Backpack Coolers are not compatible with dry ice. Use of dry ice will cause airtight vessel to explode.

For proper thermal performance, cool down the cooler before use, use YETI Thin ICE™ first, load food and drinks, add wet ice, and keep it fully closed.

Simply rinse with soap and water, and dry the inside with a cloth or paper towel. Make sure you wipe down the MagShield Access opening to remove dust or grime. For tougher stains or marks, use a non-abrasive rag. Leave it open and flip upside down to thoroughly dry.

WARNING: Do not leave your soft cooler open in the presence of children or animals. Entrapment and suffocation can occur.

The same way as the cooler, rinse with soap and water, and wipe with a cloth or paper towel. We made the inside edges of the pocket rounded for easy cleaning, and to avoid crumbs or debris getting stuck in the corners.

Small items you need easy access to, like your phone, keys, wallet, or a little extra hot sauce.
