An easy, midweight layer for all four seasons.
Add the essentials
The Caprock Merino Quarter-Zip is a versatile, all-season layer. The 250 GSM Nuyarn® Merino Wool balances warmth, breathability, and quick-drying performance for everyday activities and variable temps.
Both styles are constructed with Nuyarn® Merino Technology, but they were designed for different use cases. The Hueco Full-Zip is more durable and made for colder conditions, while the Caprock Quarter-Zip is a lightweight layer for all-season use.
The Caprock Merino Quarter-Zip is designed to balance warmth and breathability. The waffle-knit construction provides warmth when you need it while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape when you’re on the move.
The Nuyarn® Merino Wool delivers a softer feel than many traditional merino garments while maintaining the warmth, breathability, and durability needed for outdoor use. Its low-bulk, waffle-knit construction makes it easy to layer without feeling heavy or restrictive.
It’s constructed with 250 GSM Nuyarn® Merino Waffle Fabric, a performance merino technology designed to provide enhanced durability, stretch, and faster drying performance than traditional merino wool. It also uses Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)-certified merino wool.
Yes, merino wool naturally resists odor and makes the Caprock Merino Quarter-Zip great for multi-day wear and active lifestyles.
Follow the care and content instructions, use a gentle wool detergent, and either lay flat or hang to dry. DO NOT dry clean or use harsh detergents, as it can strip merino fibers of their natural lanolin, which keeps the fabrics soft. It is also important to know the waffle-knit fabric can look “pilly” when it is first worn. It’s a normal characteristic of merino wool and should go away after a day or two.
It’s a twist-free spinning technology resulting in high-performance wool that acts as closely as possible to the way it does in nature.
Merino wool is one of nature's most versatile performance materials. It feels soft against the skin while helping regulate temperature, keeping you warm in cold conditions and comfortable in warmer weather. Merino wool also naturally wicks moisture, insulates when wet, helps resist odor, and is biodegradable.
Most merino wool fabrics are made from natural materials like cotton or merino through an ancient process called ring spinning, which uses a spool or a spinning wheel or machine to take short lengths of fiber and twist them together to make the longer yarns necessary to knit or weave into a fabric. When yarns are spun tightly, they lose many of their natural benefits and a lot of their natural durability qualities. Nuyarn® Merino Technology is an entirely new method of creating yarns and fabrics from natural merino wool. It’s not a single type of yarn or fabric, but an innovative technology that produces a high-performance material.
Compared to traditional merino wool, it dries faster, offers greater durability, provides more stretch and freedom of movement, and provides bulk-free warmth. It also manages moisture, resists odor, and offers everyday comfort.
It is a protected technology that is only available to select brands.
