Washington, D.C.
Isabel has made the kitchen her home from a young age. Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexican food has been instrumental in her culinary journey which embodies the warmth and nurturing essence of the cuisine. At 17 years old, she scored her first kitchen job as a bread baker at Pujol before moving to New York City a few years later at just 19 years old to work at several award-winning culinary concepts. She ended up at Empellon, and eventually rose her way to the position of Executive Pastry Chef at Cosme. In 2019, Isabel was awarded the honor of being StarChefs Rising Pastry Chef, and was later a part of the Food & Wine Best New Chef Class of 2023. With creativity and expertise, she uses desserts as a vehicle for storytelling, and a way to give and find joy. She is playing double duty at two renowned restaurants in the D.C. area — head chef at Pascual, a modern Mexican restaurant, and pastry chef at Lutèce, a French bistro. Isabel is hard-working, gutsy, and not afraid of a challenge — and she specializes in desserts. We’ll pull up a seat at her table any day.
