SILO® 6G FAQ

Is there a warranty on the Silo® 6G?

Yes, the Silo 6G comes with a 5-year warranty. For more information, please visit our Warranty Information page.

Can I use my Silo® 6G for warm liquids?

Yes, just keep a few things in mind first:

  • Transport carefully: Make sure both T-Latches are fully locked before lifting your Silo’s handles. Also, when carrying, make sure the spigot is facing away from you to prevent accidental spills.
  • Pour with care: The spigot has a high-flow rate, especially with warm liquids, which means warm liquids may drip out for a moment even after the spigot is shut off. So keep your cup underneath for an extra second or so.
  • Prevent staining: Coffee and other liquids may stain if left in the Silo 6G for too long. Make sure you wash and clean it out after using it with warm liquids.

IS THE SILO 6G LEAKPROOF?

Nope. It’s leak resistant. Since the gasket allows air to enter so that drinks/liquids can flow optimally through the spigot, if your Silo ever ends up on its side or upside down, liquid will likely leak out.

WHAT’S THE EASIEST WAY TO CARRY THE SILO 6G?

We recommend carrying your Silo 6G using the integrated LipGrip™ Handles with the spigot facing away to avoid activating it unintentionally when carrying it. Also, liquid might leak if it ever ends up on its side or upside down.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY SILO 6G?

Before cleaning, remove the SurePour Spigot. Use a mild dish soap and water to clean out any grime or grit from your Silo. For tougher cleaning, use warm water, dish soap, and a dish brush to scrub your Silo. Additionally, allow it to soak or use a pressure washer to remove any lingering stains. See instructions below on how to clean the SurePour Spigot.

How do I properly clean the SurePour Spigot?

Keeping your SurePour Spigot clean ensures a smooth pour. To clean, unscrew the spigot from your Silo by turning the spigot nut inside the Silo counterclockwise. Push and hold the spigot button with one hand and turn the internal valve rod counterclockwise until the valve rod is detached from the spigot button. For deep cleaning, take it apart into 7 pieces, keeping both O-rings in place (see image above). Wash the spigot, valve rod, and the nut pieces in warm water and make sure they dry.

Reassemble the spigot by pushing and holding the spigot button with one hand and turning the valve rod clockwise until the valve rod is attached to the spigot button and depresses into the spigot. Be sure to reassemble the spigot correctly back onto your Silo (see picture and diagram below).
